Kangana Ranaut says she's got secret calls from Akshay Kumar and others, praising Thalaivi; slams 'movie mafia terror'. Read OnThursday 8 April 2021 | 5:53 PM | By Gayatrri
On Wednesday, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut took to her Twitter handle to state that she has been secretly getting calls and messages several 'big stars' including Akshay Kumar for her work in upcoming film 'Thalaivi' after the trailer of the latter released recently. She, however, added, that unlike films of Alia Bhatt and others, these big stars can't praise her openly because of 'movie mafia terror'.
In a tweet, Kangana wrote, 'Bollywood is so hostile that even to praise me can get people in trouble, I have got many secret calls and messages even from big stars like @akshaykumar they praised @Thalaivithefilm trailer to sky but unlike Alia and Deepika films they can’t openly praise it. Movie mafia terror.'
Adding that she wished the industry could be 'objective' when it came to art and not indulge in 'power play and politics when it comes to cinema' Kangana wrote in another tweet, 'Wish an industry of art can be objective when it comes to art, and not indulge in power play and politics when it comes to cinema, my political views and spirituality should not make me a target of bullying, harassment and isolation but if they do, then obviously I will win .'
Kangana's tweets came in response to screenwriter Aniruddha Guha who praise her for being an 'exceptional actor.'
Aniruddha wrote in a tweet, 'Kangana Ranaut is an exceptional, once-in-a-generation actor.'
Meanwhile, in March, Kangana had shared that director Vijay first rejected her for 'Thalaivi' due to her non-fluent Tamil accent.
While recalling the memories of shooting the film during the trailer launch event and remembering how the COVID-19 pandemic hindered their project which made makers question if the movie should be dropped halfway, Kangana also shared an interesting anecdote on the film where she disclosed that her director Vijay first considered her unfit for the role.
The four-time national award winner said, 'My accent is nowhere close to being right. Tamil particularly is very difficult like Sanskrit. I had done the film now but I don't think he has Okayed the accent till now.'
She laughed and added that 'While I was on roll, he was still auditioning and told me that I have found a crystal clear accent that I was looking for in Hyderabad. So, obviously, he has rejected me long ago.'
When asked how comfortable as an actor she would be if her dialogues would get dubbed in pure Tamil, she said that as an actor, it would not be a 'desirable experience'.
'I still remember when Ranvijay sir gave me the script he said your voice is a very important part of your personality, and your voice is half of your performance. So, you have to learn to speak Tamil in this film,' Kangana recalled.

Further adding a humorous twist to her the statement, she said, 'I took it as a challenge, but this man (director) Vijay only rejected me, I can't help.'
